Hyderabad | September 6, 2026: Hyderabad is set to take another major step in the global artificial intelligence infrastructure race, with TCS subsidiary HyperVault AI Data Center Limited announcing plans for an investment of up to ₹70,000 crore to develop a gigawatt-scale AI data-centre campus in the city.

The proposed facility will be developed on 264 acres and is planned to reach a capacity of up to 1 gigawatt (GW). According to reports, the campus will be designed to support high-density, liquid-cooled computing infrastructure required for advanced AI training, inference and other high-performance workloads.

A major expansion of Hyderabad's AI ecosystem

The project is expected to strengthen Hyderabad's growing reputation as one of India's leading technology centres.

HyperVault said the campus will be designed to serve frontier AI companies, hyperscalers and global enterprises requiring large-scale computing capacity. The infrastructure is expected to accommodate next-generation GPU systems and high-density computing environments.

The development comes at a time when demand for AI computing infrastructure is accelerating worldwide, making access to large-scale data centres, electricity, cooling systems and advanced digital infrastructure increasingly important.

Thousands of employment opportunities

The project is also expected to generate significant economic activity in the region.

Reports indicate that the development could create around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, spanning technology, engineering, construction, operations and related services.

Beyond direct employment, the project could generate opportunities for technology suppliers, infrastructure companies, engineering firms, data-centre specialists and other businesses supporting the expanding AI ecosystem.

Planned as a phased development

HyperVault is expected to develop the campus in phases, allowing capacity to expand according to customer demand and technological requirements.

The planned infrastructure will incorporate high-density and liquid-cooled computing systems, while the project has also been described as incorporating green-energy and water-neutral principles.

The scale of the proposed investment places the project among the more significant technology infrastructure developments announced for Hyderabad.

Telangana backs the project

The announcement followed a meeting between a TCS delegation led by CEO and Managing Director K. Krithivasan and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

The Telangana government has welcomed the investment as a major development for the state's technology and digital infrastructure ambitions. The Chief Minister has also urged the company to work towards launching the facility by June 2, 2028, Telangana Formation Day.

What it means for Hyderabad

The proposed AI campus could further transform Hyderabad's role in India's technology landscape—from being primarily recognised as an IT and services hub to becoming an important centre for AI computing infrastructure and high-performance digital services.

The project also reflects the increasing importance of large-scale computing infrastructure as artificial intelligence becomes embedded across industries including technology, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, defence and scientific research.

For Hyderabad, the proposed investment represents not only a major capital commitment but also a potential catalyst for the city's next phase of technology-led growth.

MAUK News will continue to follow the development of the HyperVault project, including construction milestones, investment progress, employment opportunities and its potential impact on Hyderabad's technology ecosystem.
