Editorial Policy
Verification
A claim reaches publication only when it is supported by a documented record, a named source, or two independent sources known to the editor. Unverified reports are labelled DEVELOPING and updated as facts are established.
Sourcing and anonymity
Anonymity is granted only where a source faces a real risk of harm, and always with an editor's approval. We explain to readers why a source is unnamed.
Opinion and analysis
Comment, analysis and editorial columns carry a visible label and the author's byline. News reporting carries no opinion.
AI-assisted drafting
MAUK News uses AI assistance for research, summarisation and first drafts. Every AI-assisted draft enters the workflow flagged, must be fact-checked against primary sources, and requires human editorial approval before publication. AI never publishes.
Corrections and updates
Substantive corrections are noted on the article with the time of the change. Silent edits to meaning are not permitted.
Independence
Advertising and sponsorship have no influence over editorial decisions. Sponsored material is clearly marked and is not produced by the newsroom.
