People in our society created this perfect image of women, and the expect us to come up to “their” expectations. If you wear less makeup you are ugly, if you wear too much makeup you are fake, if you wear baggy clothes you are conservative if you wear tight clothes you are a spoiled brat, if you behave in certain way you are less a women, if you show too much emotions you are too feminine, if you show less emotion you are lacking feminism. They judge you from the way you eat, the way you drink, the way you walk, the way you talk, basically your whole existence is being judged. Women in our society is always treated inferior to men in all ways possible, talk about political wise economical wise domestic wise you name it.

Discrimination against women still prevails in many parts of the world. Women are expected to sacrifice themselves for the sake of their family? That is the most unintelligible sentence I have ever heard in my life. Respecting women is not a rule or a law it’s more of a responsibility that men have. Since we live in male dominated society. It is obvious that males have more power than women at the point, males should understand their worth and help women elevate their status. Which in the present society sounds almost impossible but as they say little steps take you to great destinations!

Society should understand the fact that oppressing women doesn’t makes them great. Never respect opinion which disrespects others. The more chances you give others by keeping quite the more they disrespects you. Draw a clear line, never tolerate disrespect. Respect those opinions that doesn’t disrespect others existence. This starts from you home and before that it starts from you. Respect yourself so that others respect you, it all starts from within, know your worth, know that no one is greater than you, you are born to rule, self-obsession they say, well hear it from me self-obsession is part of self-love. At some point you just have to decide to be that women you always known you could be. Beauty begins from the moment you decide to be yourself. You don’t have to look in certain way to be beautiful or you don’t have to dress in certain way to look beautiful, you should know your beautiful just the way you are. Decide that YOU are enough and watch what happens next.

You do not have to change a thing they world could change its heart. The most important factor for someone to truly respect you is education I cannot stress enough how much education is important if molds you to a completely different person, a better version of yourself. I think one of the main reason why women are inferior in this society in because of education. The literacy rate of women in India is 65.46% only, although we did grow but it’s still not enough. Empowered women, empower women. Empowered women always empower women, becuace she knows the value of it. She know how much important it is, only a women and help and understand another women. The following are some steps you can help empower other women.

1. Become a mentor: Whether it’s a mentorship programme in your community or just inspiring you friends or sisters empower them. Young women often look for role models for them, be a good role model to them. Inspire them let them know their worth, let them know that you are there with them always, let them know that you are their back born. Encourage them, make them feel special and stronger than ever. Boost their self-esteem, compliment them, maybe it’s just the way she’s dressing up there’s no such thing as “right way” when it comes to dressing for girls, if you wanna rock this attire then girl rock it!

2. Know your worth: Know your worth and make sure the women around you know theirs whether it’s your workplace or your school, never let anyone make you feel you’re not worth it, stand up for yourself and for others. Self-respect is the main thing here never let anyone, I repeat anyone go over your self-respect. Because no one is more important than your self-respect

3. Let your stories be known: Share your experiences with others. I know this one can be tricky because it’s not easy to be vulnerable. But it can play a significant role in giving other women voices. Without women like Rosa Parks, Malala Yousafzai, and Susan B. among many others like them women wouldn’t have the rights we have today. Thanks to these ladies who spoke up, many changes can be seen. As it’s important to speak, it’s equally important to listen to other women as well.

4. Education: No matter how much I say about education I feel like it’s not enough. One of the best way to empower young women is by supporting their education. When were armed by education we can make great changes. Help them understand the importance of education, or make a contribution to an organizations that help girls with their education. Never stop educating yourself there is no age for education and there is also no stop to it. Empowering women starts with you. Show your support for the women around you, show them they matter, and remind them that they are strong, and cut down any negativity that’s coming your way. Changing the narrative for women and seeing real change is a team effort, so share this with the women around you, and encourage them to take action.
